Orbital Access Limited, a UK based launch systems and aerospace services business, has appointed Chris Geoghegan as chairman. Mr Geoghegan has over 30 years experience in the aerospace industry having spent most of his career in the commercial division of BAE Systems, where his last role was that of chief operating officer.

Stuart McIntyre, CEO Orbital Access, said: “I am delighted that Chris has agreed to join Orbital Access at this time. His senior Tier 1 aerospace experience will be invaluable to us as we launch our aviation services products and progress our launcher development plans. We are partnering with the UK and Europe’s principal aerospace players and it is with pleasure that we welcome one of Europe’s most experienced aerospace leaders as our chairman.”

Mr Geoghegan said: “I am delighted to be part of the Orbital Access team. I have spent much of my business life in the aerospace sector and know what tremendous potential it has. Orbital Access is unique in the emerging space sector. We have ambitious plans to develop game changing launch technology, whilst underpinning the operational overhead of the business by developing revenue generating services at spaceports around the world. I will be glad to steer Orbital’s course to success in this field.” Mr Geoghegan joined BAE Systems in 1976. During his career he served as managing director of the newly-formed Airbus Division of British Aerospace (Commercial Aircraft) Limited which, in February 1992, became British Aerospace Airbus Limited. In addition to his working career, Mr Geoghegan has served as president of SBAC (Society of British Aerospace Companies) and is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. Mr Geoghegan has served as a non-executive director on the boards of E2v technologies PLC, Volex PLC, Kier Group PLC and SIG PLC.
